and it's a great day to be alive

i think i might be bipolar lol i was in such a funk on monday but today is wednesday and i'm feelin great!!!! i don't know why but i'm in such a happy-go-lucky mood today. i think i'm driving veronica crazy with my bubblyness lol sorry V!!! but it's a great day :) i'm smiling and i really don't know why. and i've had that song "and it's a great day to be alive..." stuck in my head all day thanks to veronica. but that's ok. anyway, the day at work is almost done! it's wednesday which normally means buckhead but not this week, which i would think would make me sad, but i'm actually not. and it's one day closer to the weekend. whoo! it's so weird. nothing can get me down today!

happy hump day!! lol

it's just one of those days

every once in a while, i have little "self pitty parties" .... i know, i know, they aren't a good idea, but lately i've been having more and more. it's just one of those things. and today is just one of those days. i'm not really sure why. maybe because it's monday. or because i just paid for my speeding ticket this morning and barely have enough money to squeak by for the next few days. or maybe it's because i'm feeling kinda lonely. for the few people that are close to me and know my situation, they might ask, "how are you lonely?!" but i just am. it's kind of hard to explain. it doesn't help that i use to hang out with a different person or few people every night but since i've cut out some people from my life, i don't have that anymore. now, i'm not saying i regret cutting these people out of my life, because i'm absolutely NOT. it was probably the best decision i've made in a long time. they weren't worth all the tears and stress they put on me.

so to help myself with my pitty party, i'm going to think of happy things like....

i had an awesome weekend. Friday i went to see The Hangover (probably the funniest movie ever. I honestly don't think i've laughed that hard in a looooong time) then it was a low key night of drinking at my apartment with emma and some new friends. saturday was also very relaxing. i stayed in bed most of the day, which was really nice because i haven't done that in a long time. then went to a party out in smithfield with andrew and emma that night, which was a lot of fun. sunday i spent the day by the pool with my future roommate, lauren. we get along great and i'm really looking forward to moving in with her in august. we talked about what color we want to paint and how to decorate and a few other things. hopefully these roommates will work out better than my last ones *fingers crossed*

kobie has been super great lately. she has been extra cuddly and i absolutely love every minute of it. it's so hard to get out of bed in the morning sometimes because she's laying against me with her head resting on my stomach. she's so precious, i don't want to disturb her. for a while she only slept at my feet but lately she's been sleeping up at the top of the bed with me. sometimes even directly on me. i know it's probably just another phase, but i'm going to take full advantage of it because i miss these times. and i can't believe it, but she's not going to be a kitten anymore soon. on june 26, she'll be one!

well right now that's all the happy things i can think of. not bad for a pitty partier (is that even a word?! oh well, i just made one up if it's not), i guess. lol but hopefully things will start to look up. i think tonight calls for chocolate ice cream and a chick flick. well maybe not the chocolate ice cream part because i can't afford it lol but i'll definitely be curling up in bed with kobie and watching a good hard core romantic movie :) just what the doctor calls for on a day like today.

worth it

another month has gone by and i can't believe it. where is the time going?! i haven't written in a while, partly because i haven't been inspired. i'm not really sure why but maybe it's because i've been a little bit of a Debbie-downer lately. oh well, no time to be sad. it's june and summer is in full swing!! unfortunately i don't have much to report. i've just mostly been working. i have bills to pay....welcome to the real world. it sure is a kick in the pants sometimes but i wouldn't trade it for the world. i'm serious! i've been stressed out, on the verge of a breakdown, and in a bad mood at times, but it is SO worth it.

the other day my mom was on my back about how i'm living paycheck to paycheck because i didn't save enough money over the school year. i just told her, to be honest, i don't regret it one bit....i'm only in college once, i want to live it up. so yes, i'm a little stressed now, but i've been having a blast and i wouldn't take that back for anything.

as i'm writing this, i'm trying to think of some updates to give you all and i honestly have nothing really exciting. i spent memorial day weekend with my uncle and emma in charlotte, which was nice. most of my weekends now consist of going to the pool during the day and hanging out with my friends or going to parties at night. my normal wednesday routine of going to buckhead has slowed down a little bit (due to money issues) but when i do go, it's still a blast. i actually miss going every week. who knew....i guess i really was made to dance lol

well i guess that's it for now... but i will leave this one quote from a song that i absolutely love. it's called All I Ever Wanted by Chuck Wicks. it's my favorite line from the song....it's so true and it fits my life perfectly right now. "if life is what you make it, here's my chance, i'll take it..."

dating

every little girl dreams of the fairy tale love story (thank you for that, Disney) but when you're a teenager (and sometimes older), you rarely have that. i would know. i've done my fair share of dating throughout high school and some in college. at one point, i thought i found "the one" but that obviously wasn't the case since i'm still single. now, i'm not complaining that i'm single. for the first time in a while, i've actually enjoyed it and embraced it. but at the same time, it would be nice to have someone be there for me and support me and cuddle with me (since i'm a cuddle whore as my friend's call me lol). the only problem is, i really hate the whole "dating" thing. i hate the games we have to play and the whole "did i say this right?" or "did i just scare him off?" and all that jazz. it's just annoying. i mean games are all a part of the dating world and if there weren't games, then we wouldn't have the "thrill of the chase" but i just wish it would all stop. ok so of course i don't really hate it since i do go on dates and play along with the games, but i wish i could just skip over all that and fall in love. that would make things so much easier. i'm just ready to find my person and be able to be happy. i want to find my fairy tale ending soon.

mom always said, "you have to kiss a lot of frogs before you find your prince." so i guess i'll just keep kissin.... ;)

summer '09

it's officially summertime for me...even though it doesn't really feel like it. school stops and working full time starts. today is my first full day back after I took a much needed "me day" yesterday. i just wanted to have a quick break after school ended and work began to just relax and enjoy. i spent it cuddled up in bed watching romantic movies, catching up on my tv shows that i haven't had a chance to watch, and cuddling with kobie. i couldn't have asked for a better "me day" :) but today is back to reality. although i am excited about being back at work and not having to worry about school for a month or two (since i'm starting summer classes in July), it would be nice to actually enjoy my summer. so it's what i plan to do on the weekends. i'm hoping for a lot of day or weekend trips down to Wilmington or to the lake and hanging out by the pool with friends.

a few years ago, Carmen Rasmusen (a former American Idol contestant) released a song called "Nothin' Like the Summer" and it is probably my favorite "summer anthem." I always listen to it when the summer comes around because it really just puts you in the summery mood. Here's the chorus:

I love those summer days
Driftin' on by like a slow parade
And everything feels fine in the warm sunshine
When your world unwinds
And 'ya kick back in your flip-flops
And 'ya don't care about the tick-tock
And the world is full of music, dreams, and lovers
There ain't nothin' like the summer

It's such a great song. When you get a chance, you should listen to it. Click here for the link to the music video. Happy summer everyone!!

I took this picture of Kobie today and it turned out a lot more creative and artistic than I planned so I wanted to share it with you all. I'm not gonna lie, I'm pretty impressed with myself lol

Isn't she cute?? I've missed her so much but am glad she's finally back home with mommy :)
